How To Make Money When You’re Broke

Learning how to make money when you’re broke is tough. I know I have been there and done that. It took me a while to do what I do now. I think it’s time we take a look as to why you’re broke. I know you are not lazy, the deadbeat person who is freeloading of your parents, sister, brothers, cousins, friends or children.

If you ARE freeloading of your children you must read this further. This is for you! Lol

I’m So Broke I Can’t Afford Anything

Why are you so broke you can’t afford anything? You wake up every morning and you go to your regular job. You need to wake up because you, I don’t know, need coffee to wake up your brain. So you head out to a fancy coffee shop and buys, what, maybe $4 cup of cappuccino or a latte, because that’s your favorite coffee.

Then you can’t keep your nose clean you have to buy your boss a latte because he likes his fluffy. Of course, that’s coming from your pockets. You have to be nice because you want that promotion and things are going fantastically, woohoo!

I don’t know where you live but if you take your car to work and commute back ad forth from home and work. You are using, let’s be reasonable and say $40 every two weeks. Not bad $80 a month. Good gas mileage.

Even if you ride the subway or a taxi that even better for the ozone layer. Way to go green!

Not to mention your meals for the day. I’m going to be conservative and say $10 per meal, three times a day, $30 or $20 a day depending on if you’re snacking, you might not be hungry to eat a full meal.

Where Are The Problems

Let’s do the math. You’re so broke that you must have your cappuccino, $112 per month, $4 a day for a week plus every day for 30 days.

My sister said, “I’m broke but I’m gonna go do my nails.” Had to look good she said. Well, I guess you do what you have to do. A couple I know wants a date night. Hey screaming kids, dirty dishes, messy house, and the pets need to be taken care of.

You need quality time for you two adults that need this break. I think it’s great to have date nights. I would love to go on one myself. However, date night every night, really?

Come on now if you are going to work on your relationship, you have to like each other, don’t you think? Money wasted on date nights that won’t improve, rekindled your relationship. Use that hard earn money elsewhere.

Other problems, gambling, if you are having fun gambling and think oh it’s just fun and games. What do you think about that fun and game cost you up to a thousand dollars? For me, that’s not fun anymore. I just gambled half my mortgage, rent, and bills right there. Now what?

Being in a relationship means you both, equally, have to share responsibilities. You must agree on one thing when it’s time to pay bills. When to start a business that both see eye to eye. If not most small businesses fail because of owners not agreeing with each other.

I have an opportunity for you to try maybe you’ll someday make passive income that you would use your car anymore for work. You’ll be working from home. Save on that gas money.

Why Are You Broke

Most of the time people either refuse to accept or acknowledge that the reason they are broke because they have too many distractions. What am I talking about? You have bills to pay. You pay that bill. That is normal I pay my bills too.

All the bills are due at the same time. You paid all at once and you are left with a little just to buy groceries. Now you are worried that what if that extra money won’t last until the next payday.

You have to go out with your friends to an overpriced restaurant to have an expensive plain salad which you can make better at home. I get it you don’t want to be a Debbie Downer. You think peer pressure only happens when your young and stupid. No, it happens even when we are adults too.

Paying too much for items you know you can’t afford. You like that brand name purse and you want it. But you charged it to your credit card. A new bill or your credit card added a new charge making your balance increased. Now you had to pay more on a credit card bill. Listen, if you can’t afford with paying with cash you can’t afford it, period.

How To Make Money When You’re Broke

You see my solution to all these distractions is this… Do Not compare your status with your friends on social media, period. We all know that your “friends” on social media could or be in the same boat you are.

Most of these “friends” that you only know through social media are fake. Yes, I’ve said it, fake.

Let’s say this if I have so much money and valuable items why would I post it there? Are you asking to be rob? Who are you showing off too? Why would I tell my social media buddies that I am away from my house. So someone gets that information to come visit me while I’m not home. I don’t know about you but to me it’s creepy! *shiver*

You see never put anything valuable items or timeline on your social media page. Unless you are selling something online.

  1. Keylee – Thank you, this post really made me think! There are so many savings I could make, most are from habits that have formed over years of repetition. If I think about cutting out the coffee shop every morning and also making my own lunch rather than buying an overpriced sandwich the savings are amazing. In fact I could save enough in two weeks to cover 30 days at Wealthy Affiliate.

    Great Ideas,
    Thank You.
    Mike
